Dr. Morin takes into consideration
what you would look like in 10 years,
not only the immediate results
of your facelift.
This is the ultimate procedure for women and men to turn back the clock in a single surgery that will last for many years. Dr. Robert Morin, a board-certified plastic surgeon, performs facelifts that are fully customized to patient’s skin tissues and muscle conditions. His facelifts are known to include the following features:
A facelift procedure is most often recommended by Dr. Morin for patients who:
Dr. Morin has been practicing in New York and New Jersey for many years and is highly-trained in plastic surgery. He performs plastic surgeries a few days a week and his aesthetic abilities have been featured on major national TV shows. He has lectured on his facelift and other surgical techniques in front of his colleagues in professional meetings. He constantly refines his minimally-invasive, natural looking face lifting technique which is considered among the most advanced in the field.
Anesthesia is administered to ensure the patient’s comfort and help ease any pain. A well-concealed incision is made from the patient’s ear to their hairline. Dr. Morin uses surgical tools to reposition deep muscles and tissues. He re-drapes the skin and removes excess skin. In this way, Dr. Morin is able to lift the corners of the mouth and decrease the appearance of wrinkles lining the space between the cheeks and lips.
A facelift performed by Dr. Morin is considered an out-patient procedure and is typically completed within 2-5 hours, depending on the complexity. Following the procedure, Dr. Morin seals the well-concealed incision with and may place a drain beneath the skin on the back of the ear. Bandages are then carefully wrapped to discourage swelling.
The bandage will be removed within 2 days, while stitches will be removed by Dr. Morin within 10 days. It is highly recommended that potential patients avoid smoking and drinking alcohol in the days leading up to the procedure.
A facelift involves minimal downtime, and patients are generally able to go out of their homes a week after surgery with makeup. They can resume their normal level of physical activity within 3 weeks after the procedure. It is normal for your face to feel stiff after surgery. Numbness and dry skin is common after a facelift, but will gradually subside after a few months.
It is important to have clear expectations before any surgical procedure, especially a cosmetic procedure like a facelift. Dr. Morin provides his patients with outstanding results, however, a key factor in feeling satisfied with the procedure is understanding both its benefits and limitation. Traditional facelifts typically help improve the lower third of the face and upper neck areas. While this procedure can be extremely successful in reducing wrinkles and refreshing your appearance, it is important to understand that it does not impact the forehead or the brow area. Furthermore, the standard facelift does not improve the eyelid area, although it can have a significant effect on the midface. If you are looking to improve additional areas of the face, speak to Dr. Morin about the possibility of combining procedures such as a brow lift, fat grafting to the nasolabial folds or a blepharoplasty.
The incisions typically made for a facelift are well hidden within the hairline and in the natural skin creases around the ear. A skilled and experienced surgeon such as Dr. Morin takes great care to hide the incisions in a way that makes them barely noticeable. For facelifts that are performed on men, a somewhat modified incision is made in front of the ear, placing the incision along the edge of the skin with facial hair. This helps to ensure that skin with facial hair is not lifted into the ear. Furthermore, when a facelift is performed with a neck lift, a small incision is made in a well-concealed skin crease under the chin. This incision allows access to the neck fat for removal and the neck muscle or platysma for tightening.
Any time an incision is made in the skin, there is a scar. Dr. Morin uses many different techniques, however, in order to make sure the scars that form are well hidden and are as beautiful as possible. We often say in plastic surgery that one is trading scars for shape. While this is true, there are many things we do to make sure the scarring is as minimal as possible. It is important to realize, however, that the scar maturation process generally takes a full year. That means that although the scars may be quite noticeable at first, over time they will lighten and fade.
Typically the pain level after a facelift is low. In fact, many patients describe the post-surgical pain as more of a discomfort. In most cases, the pain is manageable with low-dose prescription medication. If you have any concerns regarding possible discomfort and ways to alleviate it, do not hesitate to talk to Dr. Morin.
Generally, patients who have had a facelift can return to work within seven to ten days following surgery. Often by this time any residual black and blue can be relatively well-concealed with make-up. We recommend, however, that post-op patients hold off on aerobic activity for at least three weeks after a facelift. Swelling in the lower face and neck can last for a significant amount of time. It is therefore important to give your body time to heal before evaluating your final outcome.
